2010 WMECo Rate Case

D.P.U. 10-70
Western Massachusetts Electric Company
Petition for a general increase in rates
and for a revenue decoupling plan.

_____________________________________

On July 16, 2010, Western Massachusetts Electric Company (WMECo) filed an application with the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU) requesting an increase in electric distribution rates, to become effective February 1, 2011.

If approved as filed, residential customers using 600 kWh a month would see an increase in their monthly bill of approximately $7.50, or about eight percent. On average, business customers who take Basic Service would see bill increases ranging from one percent to six percent, depending on load and usage. The request will add about $28 million to Company revenues and enable it to continue making needed investments in the electric system to enhance reliability.
