ENERGY STAR® Homes

New Englanders value practicality and high
quality … that's why ENERGY STAR® Homes are so
welcomed here. The ENERGY STAR® certification of
your home means that it was built with the latest
design innovations to save energy, while reducing
drafts and external noise, as well as improving heat
distribution and indoor air quality. This means with
just a few simple design improvements, your new home
is quieter, cleaner and more comfortable.
When designing your new home, consider WMECO's
ENERGY STAR® Homes program and take advantage of a
variety of incentives and building design support
that are available to you to help. We offer:
- Evaluation of Your Home Building Plans.
Our technical staff will review your building
plans and provide recommendations on such energy-saving
techniques as passive solar site planning,
energy-efficient window options, insulation,
air sealing and ventilation choices.
- ENERGY STAR® Home Certification.
WMECO will provide the technical support and
application needed to receive
Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) certification of your
home.
- Energy-Efficient Measures. Incentives are
available for the installation of certain
energy-efficiency measures.
- Tax Credits. WMECO will assist you in
taking advantage of Federal Tax Credits for
building an energy-efficient home.
