What is the best way to maximize awareness of energy savings realized by participating in WMECO's conservation programs?
Make the conservation energy savings part of the company operating budget. In doing this, it now becomes an item, which is reviewed on a regular basis and is likely to be measured with other key performance indicators.
Does WMECO offer training seminars on ways to reduce energy consumption?
Yes, WMECO works with many energy efficiency partners jointly in offering an array of training seminars. Below is just a sample of places to find upcoming seminars; plus, you can call us at (800) 835-2707.

What is the basic criteria that WMECO uses to determine what qualifies for a rebate?
Our
energy-efficiency programs
are reviewed and approved by our regulators to ensure they meet cost-effectiveness criteria. This means the net preset value of the benefits (savings over the life of the measure) has to be greater than the cost to install the measure. WMECO does not generally pay incentives for measures that do not save electric energy like gas-fired or oil-fired equipment. WMECO also does not pay incentives for fuel switching like co-generation or self-generation.
Does WMECO offer loans or financing for making energy-efficient upgrades?
One component of WMECO’s
Small Business Energy Advantage Program
is a
zero percent loan
for cost-effective measures installed. Also, WMECO’s small manufacturing customers (less than 100 employees) may apply for zero percent interest loans through the
Western Mass Energy Trust
to finance up to $75,000 of energy-efficiency projects or LEAN manufacturing initiatives.
How do I determine what rebates are available from WMECO?
Our
programs
are summarized on our Web site. Another option is to simply call us at (800) 835-2707.
How do I determine if my project will qualify for a rebate?
Often, the best way to help answer this question is to simply call us at (800) 835-2707.
