The Retrofit Program is designed for commercial and industrial customers to help replace aging, inefficient equipment and systems with energy efficient technologies. Through this program, WMECo will partner with you and provide financial incentives and technical support to make energy efficiency more affordable.
We encourage commercial and industrial customers to retrofit outdated lighting with new equipment that provides equal or improved light output to enhance the comfort and safety of your facility, while lowering energy use. The amount of the rebate is based on the type and number of units installed, and is paid directly to the customer following installation by your qualified, licensed contractor and inspection by WMECo.
LED incentive eligibility requires the fixture be selected from any of the following:
Pay for Performance
Pay for Performance offers incentive payment to identify and implement efficiency measures on existing equipment, such as re-calibration of controls, repair of non functioning dampers, etc. Monitoring Based Commissioning (MBCx) and Retro-Commissioning (RCx ) are eligible on a pre-approved basis with a specified incentive for each kWh saved.
Electric Motor Controls
Motor Controls, also known as Variable Speed Drives, or VSDs, are an excellent way to reduce energy costs for motors whose loads frequently vary. WMECo offers an increased incentive to customers who replace an older motor when adding a VSD.
Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning (HVAC)
Commercial and industrial customers in existing facilities considering replacement of an inefficient HVAC system may be eligible for WMECo's CoolChoice Rebate Program. Please see the New Construction/Failed Equipment Replacement Web page.
New generations of chillers are far more efficient than what’s likely in your building now. Consider WMECo’s Chiller Efficiency Program when looking to replace your existing chiller. Please see the New Construction/Failed Equipment Replacement Web page.
Energy Management System
Expansion of an existing Energy Management System (EMS) to control additional equipment may be eligible for incentives. Businesses can achieve significant energy savings by updating their EMS to control air distribution equipment and temperature settings during unoccupied periods.
Vending Machine Controls
Adding controls to your beverage vending machine can reduce its energy consumption.
The Custom Program is for unique conservation opportunities where WMECo will partner with business customers to develop a conservation strategy and incentive to meet their specific needs. Common examples include improvements to process machinery, food processing equipment, and any conservation opportunity unique to the specific facility.
