Energy Audit

Our experienced energy experts perform evaluations and
studies, helping you improve productivity and operations.
WMECO arranges for needed technical assistance and
provides cash incentives to upgrade the efficiency of
electrical equipment. Once a customer signs a Study
Agreement, WMECO arranges for an Energy Audit or a
comprehensive Focused Study of a customer's specific
electrical measures.
One-half of the study costs will be paid up front
by WMECO, and the customer's 50 percent share is
refunded following the installation of the recommended
energy-saving measures. These measures may qualify
for cash incentives of 50 percent to 100 percent of
the incremental costs to upgrade from standard to
higher-efficiency measures. In order to participate
in an incentive program, customers are required to
sign a Letter of Agreement. In the letter, the customer
agrees to installing electric, energy-efficiency measures
within a mutually acceptable time frame, and WMECO agrees
to paying incentives for qualified energy-savings
measures.
Benefits
An Energy Audit
(PDF:773KB) is a comprehensive, electric-energy study of a customer's entire facility. The result is a comprehensive listing of individual electric equipment types and their energy consumption characteristics followed by benefit-cost recommendations for increasing enery efficiency where available.
A Focused Study
(PDF:773KB) is a detailed evaluation of a customer's specific electrical equipment, resulting in recommendations that include benefit-cost analysis and a summary of conclusions.
Eligibility for the Programs
Although all commercial and industrial customers are eligible for an Energy Audit or Focused Study, the programs are targeted primarily to medium and large customers whose average monthly-energy demand exceeds 350 kW.
